Special Orders basically include any diamonds of a size, colour, cut or clarity not offered in our standard pricing list. It also includes coloured gemstones.

So, if you're after something very specific, or a little out of the ordinary, you're in the right spot.

In your e-mail, simply tell us:

Which type of precious metal you want; and

What type of stones, what cut and quality you're after, what sizes and how many — and (for coloured gemstones) whether you're after light, medium or dark colours.

For example:

1 ingot: Platinum; and

1 x marquise-cut diamond, VS1, approx. 6mm x 3mm

We'll then get back to you with a quote detailing current prices and options. (Whilst we'd love to include fixed prices on the site, there are simply too many variables for us to provide a comprehensive, up-to-date list.)

Choosing the right Precious Metal

Every Promised Ring comes with a 10 gram ingot of your chosen metal. Choose from either 9 carat white gold, 18 carat white or yellow gold, or platinum.

If you're not sure which to get, here are some pointers:

Check out the colour of the jewellery your partner usually wears.

If it's mostly 'yellow' — get yellow gold.

If it's mostly silver-coloured — get white gold or platinum.

When it comes to choosing between white Gold & platinum (which look pretty much the same), here are a few things to consider:

White gold in its raw form is rather dull — like unpolished silver. It needs to be coated or plated with rhodium to create a white shine. Rhodium plating wears off and needs to be re-done every 12 months or so — and whilst it's not expensive, it is inconvenient.

Platinum does not need to be rhodium-plated, and whilst it's more expensive, it also carries more prestige and is hardier (less prone to scratching or damage). It's ideal for setting very valuable diamonds and gemstones as they stay secure.

Platinum is generally more difficult for a Jeweller to work, hence, getting a platinum ring made up will normally be more expensive than making a gold ring of the same design.
